b house

The concept for this house in Baypoint, Miami was to create a building that maximizes the potential for interaction between the garden and the house while fitting into the existing landscape. The site opens towards south-east, the Biscayne Bay and is located in a residential neighborhood. The house embraces the east side of the site to benefit from as much evening sun as possible. Living spaces are divided into two main blocks which have then been shifted off the central axis to give the building a sculptural quality within its setting. This layout allows the house to define several different outdoor areas, on an east facing kitchen terrace, a private courtyard on the north-west and a pool terrace in the upper level. The north-west courtyard is designed for the residents to enter into a dreamy biophilic environment first, with palm trees and a pond, creating an intermediary space between the private and public spaces.
